The Art of Sumo.

I love creating photographs like this, and its imagery that reflects the true essence of Gotthewanderingeye’s philosophy, ‘Where Photography, Art & Travel Collide’. Japan has always been a destination I have been fascinated with, and this series of work is paying home-age to this amazing country.

The art of sumo is rich in history, so too is Japan’s ancient temples and sacred structures. This series of portrait, multiple exposure photography combines the two in perfect harmony, to create unique imagery that is quintessentially Japan. Adding the washi (japanese paper) texture further emphasises the art and tradition of this sport and culture.

Travelling across Japan, the scenes in the images are taken across several ancient sites, Matsumoto Castle, Itsukushima Floating Torii Gate – Hiroshima, Edo Castle – Tokyo Imperial Palace, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Fujiyoshida, and Kinkaku-ji Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto.

The perfect unique art piece for you home, available in a variety of framing options. White, Oak, Black Shadowbox or Classic Frames or perhaps the super trendy and cool Acrylic Facemount is more your flavour for your space.

Escape the everyday, and enjoy the Art of Japan today.
